But just to say my opinion on it, I think Barack Obama is black. He looks black..he seems preety ok to me. To other people I think they would say he's balck also. But who are we to judge. Barack Obama is bi-racial. So therfore he is black and white. And does it really matter? Does that determine whether or not he can become president? Does the black people feel that he's black enough? Does the white people feel that he white enough? Does he see himselfl between a race battle? There are a lot of questions that I had to ask but I guess its true though. "Among African Americans, discussions about his racial identity typically vacillate between the ideologically charged options of "black" versus "not black enough" or between "black" and "black, but not like us." In that statement they were saying that how a racial identity goes. They were also talking about how many Africans came into the U.S. and also from the Carribean. They was also talking about Secretary of State Colin L. Powell's culture from when he was running for president in the mid-1990's. In the next paragraph they was comparing the differences between the Native african Americans and the Africans that came from Africa. They are also talking about how America say that black people are different than Africans. They keep saying that there is a difference in being African and African American. This Article is mainly about how society sees a difference between being African and African American.

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-op-chude-sokei18feb18,0,7672643.story?coll=la-news-comment-opinions

What does being black mean to me?

Being black to me means your ancestors are from Africa and the obvious natural hair, wide nose, and all the other physical attributes you would see in an African American. However, I do believe that thats not the only way you can be black. There are people who are mixed but they still consider themselves black. I dont think black people should be stereotyped as the "ghetto people" or we're always the ones to get locked up. Yes unforunately most of the african americans are getting locked up and are doing bad things but, Not all of us think and do the same things. Some people say the reason why black people are always living in the poorer communities is because of the government system. They keep raising the price of living and that forces african americans to find another place to live, putting african americans in a box calling it "the ghetto". But not every ghetto is filled with african americans. For example the holocaust. Also not all african americans are bad. Actually being bad, you should have to label a race to being. In general, not all people are good. There are some good people and there are some bad people. Hopefully as time goes by people wont judge who's bad and who's not by race but by the people and how they represent themselves.

Here is a website were people posted their opinions on being "Black"

http://www.topix.net/forum/afam/T7ON0VGQJMGBPUR0S

What does it mean to be black?

So what does it actually mean to be black? Having dark brown skin? Having permed or nappy hair? Having a wide nose? Does being black mean you have to be ghetto? Does being black has to come with being stereotyped? In a recent article I read it stated: "I think that people have a problem with dealing with this because some people have not accepted the fact that African American's are such a diverse people. You can't put us in a bottle. For instance our hair. We can wear it straight, curly, nappy (or natural), permed, we have so many options. ......" In another article, it stated: "What does it mean to be black?......Some may want to demand essential answers for these identities: you should speak, think, and believe certain “truths” if you’re… (fill in the blank)." In this article its saying that black people are basically what you see them as or how you see them on T.V. She's basically saying that all black people speak, think, and believe the same. And your only black if you have nappy (natural), or permed hair.

http://wgst.intrasun.tcnj.edu/newsletter/archives/feb2003.html

http://www.radzone.org/cgi-bin/weblab/lovestories/salon3.0/public.cgi?mode=Thread_First&salon=TV+Series+Group+4&thread=16

Barack Obama's political debute

The following are some highlight's of Barack Obama's political life

1996

Barack Obama made his first political debute.
